Faculty of Geography
1336The faculty was established in 1931.
The departments of the faculty are: Geography, Ecology, Hydrometeorology, and Cartography. Specialists in geography, ecology, meteorology, cartography are trained at these departments.
Research works in the current ecological conditions of the Kopetdag foothills; the assessment of the areas exposed to the anthropogenic factors; the investigation of the radionuclide content and specific activity of the foothill area soil; the gamma radiation of the earth surface; the character of the natural components that form the landscape are carried out by the professors of the faculty.
The students who are specialized in geography are qualified as the “geographers, teachers”. The graduates are able to work at educational establishments, scientific-research centers, at different establishments of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment Protection, State Water Committee of Turkmenistan.
The students who study ecology are qualified as “ecologists, teachers of ecology and geography”. The graduates can work at educational establishments, scientific-research centers, different establishments of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment Protection of Turkmenistan, in the state reserves as well as in the proper departments of municipality.
The students who study meteorology are qualified as “meteorologists, teachers of geography”. The graduates are able to work at educational establishments, scientific-research institutions, in the State Hydrometeorology Agency of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment Protection.
Those who study cartography are given qualifications of “cartographers, teachers of geography”. After graduating from the University, they are able to work at the different branches of №5 enterprise of the Turkmen Ministry of Defense.
