Shahnameh reading competition was held
6A Shahnameh reading competition, organized by the Cultural Centre of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Turkmenistan on the occasion of Persian Language Preservation Day and the Poetry Day of Abolqasem Ferdowsi, was held at Magtymguly Turkmen State University.
The competition was attended by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Turkmenistan, Ali Mojtaba Rouzbehani, the Cultural Counselor of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Turkmenistan, Abdolreza Abbasi, as well as other distinguished guests.
The guests visited an exhibition arranged in the foyer of the academic building of Magtymguly Turkmen State University, featuring the books of the Hero-Arkadag and Arkadagly Hero Serdar, textbooks, teaching manuals, and monographs prepared by the university’s professors and lecturers, as well as exhibits of the national decorative and applied arts of the Turkmen and Persian peoples. They were introduced to the exhibition displays in detail.
The competition brought together students of Magtymguly Turkmen State University, Dovletmammet Azady Turkmen National Institute of World Languages, the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, as well as learners of Persian from the Cultural Centre of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Turkmenistan. According to the competition rules, the participants competed in three rounds by reciting passages from Abolqasem Ferdowsi’s Shahnameh, explaining them, and answering questions asked by the members of the jury consisting of teachers from the Cultural Centre of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Turkmenistan.
At the end of the competition rounds, videos prepared by the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran were shown. Students of Magtymguly Turkmen State University and Dovletmammet Azady Turkmen National Institute of World Languages performed songs in Persian, songs based on the poems of Abolqasem Ferdowsi, and presentation performances.
The members of the jury announced the winners of the poetry competition held on the occasion of Persian Language Preservation Day and the Poetry Day of Hakim Abolqasem Ferdowsi, after which an award ceremony was held to present them with their prizes.
The participants of the poetry competition expressed their sincere gratitude to the National Leader of the Turkmen people and the President of Turkmenistan for creating broad opportunities to reveal the talents and abilities of young people and to study the great personalities and masters of literature of the East.
